Public Holidays 2018

This page contains a national calendar of all 2018 public holidays. Please scroll down to view.

This is a tentative list of holidays and is subject to change up until the time that the Parliament of New Zealand publishes the Official Holiday list. The government of New Zealand, through the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, usually publishes the National Holiday list in November or December for the following year.

New Zealand national holidays are celebrated throughout the country. Provincial holidays are only celebrated in the former province that they were once associated. Since these provinces no longer exist, these holidays are more traditional than a national event. These holidays generally occur on the first Monday that was closest to their original celebration date.

Holidays are subject to change and the parliament has the authority to change, add, or eliminate current holidays. There are also two separate pieces of legislation before the Parliament to add two more holidays to the National list. If approved, the 2018 list will include the new holidays.

Once the official list is released from the New Zealand Parliament, this site will update the 2018 holiday list with the official dates confirmed by the government.
